V-neck: elegance that opens up
Men’s V-neck is reinvented with new proportions, soft yarns and deep necklines
The V-neck returns to centre stage in the men’s wardrobe, but does so by freeing itself from a single idea of fit. It is no longer only slim and close-fitting: today the V-neck also lives in softer knits, lightweight cardigans and relaxed volumes, becoming a broader, more versatile style gesture. The new knitwear works on yarns even before shapes. Fine wools, refined cotton and fluid blends design pullovers and cardigans conceived to be layered or worn on their own. Ami Paris interprets the V-neck with a relaxed, everyday elegance, perfect in cardigans and soft knits to be worn under unstructured jackets. Conversely, Tom Ford works with a more assertive sensuality, through deep-neck pullovers and knits worn directly on the skin. Prada’s approach is more rigorous as they use the V-neck as an element of stylistic precision, often combined with tailored trousers and clean contour lines. Dolce & Gabbana broadens the narrative with more decorative, evening-oriented versions, featuring precious yarns and cardigans that become true statement pieces. The V-neck works under a jacket, left just visible as a single elegant sign, but also over a thin T-shirt or an open shirt, playing with layering. It pairs naturally with tailored-cut trousers, yet finds an interesting balance with clean denim or softer trousers as well.
