Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat, in the art world known simply as Jimmy Choo, made his first pair of shoes at the age of 11 while working in the family shop in Penang, Malaysia. In 1986, he opened his first lab in Hackney, London, by refurbishing a building that once held a hospital. Greatly admired by Princess Diana, in 1996 he received the necessary funding to open his shoe factory. Today the brand also sells bags, accessories, sunglasses and ready-to-wear collections under the Jimmy Choo name.
