This spring, pearls are in: there is no need to reach for grandma’s treasured strand — top brands, from Valentino Garavani to Vivienne Westwood, are offering glass or polyester pieces to play with! If you are in the mood for a bit more irony, go for Burberry and its Thomas teddy bear. Another trend to keep an eye on is the craft style that chooses unconventional materials to create pieces with an ethnic flavour: cotton and beads for necklaces, wood for bracelets — the ones by Isabel Marant are striking — brass and glass for Chloé’s necklaces and earrings, leather and silver for the Bottega Veneta bracelet.
