The company was founded in 1953 by the Lladró brothers in the village of Almácera, in Valencia. They began by selling decorative objects for homes, and only in 1956 started to produce their famous porcelain statues. Two years of incredible success led them to move to Tavernes Blanques, to the foundation of the Lladró professional school and to the construction of the City of Porcelain, opened in 1969. The production of these masterpieces has always remained faithful to the original tradition, and its story is told in the Lladró Museum.
