The trend of the season? Hidden at the back of the wardrobe
The Grandpa style calls for jacquard patterns and oversized jackets
The Grandpa style, literally «dressing like grandpa», is a challenge: it is easy to go from trendy to quirky... The rules to follow are strict: neutral colours are the base - but with a tendency to yield to eccentric combinations - sober cut, superb quality materials. The first commandment to follow is shared by Alexa Chung with her six and a half million followers: outfits must give the comfort effect. Clear the way for the vest, with classic diamond-shape pattern or - more spring-like - in the multi-coloured zigzag version by Missoni, paired with soft and pleated wide-leg trousers, like those proposed by Brunello Cucinelli and Burberry, to be worn strictly with a contrasting belt. The jacket is oversized, like the canvas one by Prada, while Balenciaga interprets the theme using denim, and so does Maison Margiela for their black bomber. Cardigans are a good substitute for jackets, in an argyle pattern of course, as proposed by Ganni and Comme Des Garçons.
