Graphics and prints from the ‘70s
Men's fashion seeks retro references and creates an unmistakable silhouette
Prints, graphics, and retro references in the details, but above all in defining the silhouette: the time machine has been set in motion and has transported men back to the ‘70s. Designers have created an imaginative mix that places the spring collections halfway between ‘Flower Children’ and disco music looks. So, green light for Freddie Mercury and David Bowie enthusiasts, as suggested by the colorful printed silk trousers by Bode and the ‘wallpaper’ pattern ones by Dries Van Noten (who also chooses this inspiration for the tight-fitting turtleneck and knee-length duster-style coat). Dolce & Gabbana do not miss the call and offers an optical effect graphic for their long-sleeved shirt with a large collar, while Delos uses the shibori-dye technique (an ancient Japanese method) for its silk shirt in gold tones, and Tom Ford opts for black and white floral patterns for his shirt crafter from 100% Lyocell, a textile fibre made from eucalyptus cellulose. Finally, Etro explores and recreates an entire world illuminated by the magic of the Seventies and designs colorful flowers on a black background, as well as small geometries and arabesques that intertwine on half-sleeve shirts and polo shirts.
