At Christmas, comfy is not enough. It is time for cocoon style

Green light to blankets, oversized scarves, capes, and especially maxi-coats

We are not scared of Old Man Winter! Coperni's oversized jacket wraps you up from head to knee, Junya Watanabe's puffer jacket is a warm embrace with its unmistakable style, and Elisabetta Franchi's quilted velvet jacket with shawl lapels envelops you in its softness. Cocoon is the watchword, followed closely by plaids: in the midst of a quiet luxury style, wrapping yourself in small blankets or large rustic and sporty scarves, like those from Barbour, is a must this season. In 2023/24, this trend takes a step further and influences maxi-coats, like Moschino's plaid fabric one, complete with fringes, classic lapels, double-breasted fastening crafted from navy blue and beige pure wool. Stella McCartney - with a nod to Cruella de Vil - and Max Mara - blending wool and silk and choosing bold red - have thought of chillier versions: faux fur maxi-coats that could not be more cocoon-like. For those who prefer a classic look, they are spoiled for choice: Hugo Boss's recycled faux-shearling polyester coat with classic lapels and hidden fastening, lightweight but incredibly warm stoles by Faliero Sarti, Yves Salomon's shearling coat, and Brunello Cucinelli's padded down collar with fleece and cashmere texture.
